09 Aug Looking to Replace Your Buffalo Grove Siding? Let a Buffalo Grove Home Siding Company Help You Find You the Right Material
Is your Buffalo Grove siding old and worn down? Considering a siding replacement? If so, you’re going to have to decide on the right material.
There are a number of different siding materials on the market, each of which offers something different when it comes to aesthetic and performance. Need a bit of guidance in choosing the right material? This article has you covered.
Vinyl
Vinyl — the world’s most popular siding material — offers a high amount of functionality at a downright reasonable price. Exceedingly tough, it can withstand a great deal of abuse. In addition to resisting sunlight and rain, it also resists physical trauma fairly well.
In terms of aesthetics, vinyl is about as standard as they come. It is not elegant, by any means, but it serves it purpose and many people find it acceptable. The best way to describe its aesthetic would be to call it mass manufactured. It’s very similar to all other vinyl siding. That said, it’s available in a wide variety of colors, so at the very least, it can provide some level of aesthetic uniqueness.
Fiber Cement
Over the past few years, fiber cement siding has become more and more popular. Consisting of sand, cement, and a number of additional ingredients, this material excels in essentially every facet. In addition to withstanding the effects of sunlight and water, it also resists the effects of physical trauma. Highly durable, it can last over 50 years. It’s also highly attractive, available in a variety of colors and styles.
There’s one potential downside to fiber cement: it’s on the expensive side. However, when you consider its durability, it actually offers a lot of value for the price. As such, it’s a worthwhile investment.
Wood
Wood siding has been used for centuries, so you know it gets the job done. Durable and attractive, it’s capable of taking on substantial amounts of physical trauma, whether it be from falling branches, stray baseballs, or otherwise.
There is a possible downside to wood siding, however, and that problem lies in its lack of resistance to water and sunlight. Simply put, when not properly maintained, wood siding deteriorates long before its time. As such, it requires a fairly substantial amount of maintenance over time.
Stone Veneer
Looking to give your home an attractive and intriguing aesthetic that is not possessed by most of the other homes in your neighborhood? If so, you may want to give some thought to stone veneer siding. Stone veneer siding consists of an array of stones. These stones are asymmetrical and differently colored, lending a unique aesthetic to any home which they adorn.
Functionally speaking, stone veneer siding is as good as they come. It’s highly durable, resisting water, sunlight, and physical trauma. It’s also highly insulative, blocking the inward flow of heat and cold waves.
However, like fiber cement siding, stone veneer siding is relatively expensive. In fact, it’s very expensive, around double the price of fiber cement. That said, it’s also very durable, lasting up to 75 years in some cases.
If you’re going for that high-end aesthetic, stone veneer is an excellent choice. You’ll just have to pay a little more to get your hands on it.
