10 Mar All New Exterior
Tim and Nancy Ryan of Palatine wanted to refresh their tired exterior of their home along with some structural changes that needed to be addressed. The masonry on the front elevation had some severe cracks due to the structural support headers over the garage doors losing their integrity. The Ryans also wanted taller windows and to change their single front door into a door with 2 sidelights.
Aspen Exterior Designer Jim Blight created a new look using computer software that allows you to digitally change and enhance a photo of an existing home. All the masonry was removed and a new structural laminated support header was installed. New openings were also created for the front door and front windows to accommodate for the increased sizes. The new front windows chosen were vinyl double hung custom made by Softlite. Therma-Tru was the manufacturer of the new fiberglass entry door system with decorative glass.
A total new exterior was then applied which started with a half inch layer of Dow foam insulation then wrapping the entire home with Tyvek house-wrap. Increased energy saving is one of the benefits of a new exterior. The new brick front was installed along with vinyl siding by Norandex and a new aluminum fascia soffit and gutter system.
